ADIRA

ADIRA is a queer Arab* party, community, and cultural event series centering voices from Southwest Asia and North Africa. Founded in 2023 by Hassandra and Zuher Jazmati (xanax_attax), ADIRA emerged as a platform that celebrates Arab-pop culture while reclaiming queer memory, archiving diasporic experiences, and building connections across cities and communities.

Rooted in Arabic pop nostalgia from the 80s, 90s, and 00s, ADIRA challenges orientalist narratives and creates space for joy, resistance, and collective expression. Since its launch, ADIRA has hosted over 100 artists across more than 30 events, including club nights, drag shows, panels, community gatherings, and exhibitions. In 2024, ADIRA made history by launching the world’s first Arab* Drag Festival.

“ADIRA” is a Levantine queer slang term meaning someone fierce, capable, and accomplished.
