Join us for the second gathering of Sounds of Global Liberation, a series on reprogramming music history with Cultural Solidarity Project and Sonic Liberation Devices, for Banned Drums: a deep dive into the way drums have both been repressed and crucially, resisted repression.
Percussionist and carrier of this knowledge, Kofi Hunter, will lead us in a multi-media presentation, and then open it up for a drum workshop and community jam.
We're thrilled to bring this cultural offering into the abundance of The People's Garden, who build community resilience everyday with their incredible stewardship.
Suggested Donation: $5-25 to be shared among the artists, the host, and the organizers to sustain their vital work preserving cultural memory and building alternative infrastructures rooted in life, respect and cooperation.
MUSIC ENCODES OUR HISTORIES OF RESISTANCE, RESILIENCE AND REVOLUTION.
WHAT CAN WE BUILD WHEN WE REMEMBER?
4–7 PM: Presentation and Drum Workshop
7-9 PM: BBQ and Community Jam
