From 8:00 PM
To 31.7 - 2:00 AM

Join us for the launch of a new collaborative series with Sonic Liberation Devices — Sounds of Global Liberation!

There are so many global musical traditions that encode stories and secrets of liberation struggles. This series is devoted to sonic artists and archivists who keep us tethered to not just the sounds of their people, but the histories of revolution that created and sustained them — recontextualizing sounds we often hear at the club, as a sample, or in other disembodied forms.

Each session will include a presentation, deep listening and a somatic integration, curated and led by the artist.

These sounds and stories will later be recorded by Sonic Liberation Devices into their upcoming Global South Drum Machine — a machine and economic model that resists capitalism in all its forms.

The power system thrives on alienation — alienating us from each other, from our histories, from our potential. Come resist together, through the gathering, through the sacred frequency.

We’re ecstatic to open this series with none other than the luminous Spicy Khasso – a multi-instrumentalist with roots in Mali, Senegal and Jamaica. They will facilitate

  1. Traditional West African Dance Class
  2. A Discussion with Cultural Solidarity Project on the anti-colonial history present in sound and dance we’ll experience throughout the night
  3. Live Performances by FoReign DestinÉtion Arkestra

MUSIC ENCODES OUR HISTORIES OF RESISTANCE, RESILIENCE AND REVOLUTION.
