Building A Sonic Archive

Learn how to preserve family, personal and community history through audio recording and archiving.

Led by Olivia Melkonian, this workshop invites participants to collectively challenge the traditional concept of archiving, from motive to medium. Offering a warm space of open dialogue, this workshop welcomes new ideas and explorations of archiving as a practice, alongside practical demonstrations and accessible audio production tools to develop technical skills needed to build your own sonic archive. All experience levels are welcome!

You do not need to bring anything to the workshop, however if you have a piece of audio you've recorded and would like to share it, please feel free to bring this. In preparation for the workshop, try to actively listen and this may encourage you to record some audio if you haven't before.
