The first Palestinian Film Days in Munich open with Alam, the debut feature by Palestinian director Firas Khoury.

In a Palestinian town, Tamer and his friends lead a typical high school student’s life until the arrival of the beautiful Maysaa’. To please her, Tamer agrees to take part in a mysterious flag operation on the eve of Israel’s Independence Day which is a mourning day for Palestinians.

Firas Khoury is a Palestinian writer, director, and educator known for his award-winning films exploring Palestinian identity and youth, including the feature Alam (2022) and short Maradona's Legs (2019). He founded the Falastinema Group, which promotes cinema through workshops and screenings across Palestine.

The Palestinale (Palestinian Film Days Munich) is an initiative of activists and filmmakers from and in solidarity with Palestine.Our project was created to bring attention to the struggle of the Palestinian people, a struggle that has been ongoing for 77 years.We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination, liberation, and the full realization of human rights. Through cinema, we aim to create a necessary space for Palestinian voices to be heard in the cinemas of Munich.Our objective is to showcase films that narrate and document resistance, identity, and hope, while also confronting the realities of displacement, occupation and genocide experienced by the Palestinian people.
