SANAM
SANAM is a Beirut-based sextet delivering a powerful, immersive live experience blending psych & krautrock, free jazz, electronics, and Arabic musical traditions.
Formed after a collaboration with Hans Joachim Irmler (Faust), the band builds its sound through live improvisation, tension, and collective energy. Their music combines hypnotic rhythms, dense textures, and haunting vocals with traditional Egyptian song and modern Arabic poetry.
Their debut album Aykathani Malakon (Mais Um Discos, 2023), recorded entirely live and mixed by Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Jerusalem in My Heart), received international acclaim from The Guardian, The Wire, BBC Radio 6, and Bandcamp Daily.
After standout performances at Le Guess Who?, Roskilde, and a North American tour in 2025, SANAM brings its intense and otherworldly live show to Munich.
Shã Mò
Shã Mò (iJi*) gives us an insight into the distant school days of the musicians & group of friends in Shanghai, China. Reveling in shared memories from school brings a new, beautiful and almost mythical connection to home. Drawing from Post-Punk, Krautrock, and '90s Post-Rock, the four-piece band Shã Mò ((Ji*) plays a set filled with dynamic guitars, personal anecdotes and rising tension. The first album is a collection of old songs recorded on hot summer days.

The focus lies on experimental, outernational, global sounds. For 13 years, Import Export has offered a space for artists, cultural workers, promotors and socially engaged people to work across genres and disciplines. It has thus become an open space for free, collaborative creation full of transnational influences. The program includes music as well as other arts and political and cultural education.
