Feathers! | Haifa | 26.7

Fri, Jul 26, 2024 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Khuri St 2, Haifa, Israel , Sard Theatre - Haifa
In the present moment, while our consciousness is reshaping, we discover that we do not know to what extent we are free, nor do we know if we can reach a stage where we can break free from the clutches of authority. By merging dance techniques with theatrical movement techniques, the performance “Feathers!” explores these meanings and reveals the network of relationships between the characters and the power dynamics among them. Under one roof, four beings come together, their relationships intertwined in scenes that highlight the complexity of human interaction. It becomes clear how the self is formed under the influence of authority, how it governs it, and affects its choices and desires.
“Feathers!” is not as tragic as one might think; laughter has a central presence, expressing the paradoxes and contradictions inherent in our identities and lives, where submission and the desire for freedom coexist, and pain meets joy. These are our human stories, in which we long for liberation from the other while simultaneously clinging to them.
“Feathers!” poses existential questions about the self and authority, such as: How does authority shape our psychological world and reality? Can the self exist without authority shaping it? Between submission and freedom, independence and belonging, the struggle and attempts at resistance begin. The performance invites the audience to reflect on the impact of authority on their lives and desires, leaving them with questions about the possibility of change.
