International Day of Hummus — io sono hummus sessuale

The Organizers

Makan artfood

International Day of Hummus is a full vegan day of food, sound, performance and collective gathering organized by Makan APS in Rome.

The event begins with a hands-on hummus and falafel workshop where participants will learn how to prepare hummus and falafel from scratch through blending, frying, tasting and sharing food together. Participants will also take home the hummus and falafel they prepare during the workshop.

After the workshop, the space transforms into “Falafel Sound,” a live kitchen sound performance by Khaled Karri and sound engineer Afif Ben Fekih. During the performance, the sounds of frying falafel, chopping vegetables, blending chickpeas and moving kitchen tools are amplified and transformed into a live musical and performative experience.

The day continues with an electric music DJ set and a collective vegan gathering celebrating food, body, rhythm, pleasure and community.

The event explores food not only as something to eat, but also as sound, memory, sensuality and performance.

Dress code: beach/swimming outfit.

The event is LGBTQIA+ inclusive and open to everyone.
