This edition of Making Waves, in collaboration
with AL.Festival, explores music and song as tools of hope and resistance.
Palestinian artist Ahmad Eid combines storytelling and acoustic performance, sharing the stories behind his songs and performing them live. He will also introduce Palestine Music Space, which he co-founded to support musicians in Palestine.
The evening continues with a conversation between Ahmad Eid and transdisciplinary artist houaïda, whose work critically engages with Western perceptions of music and performance through her diasporic lens. Together, they will explore music, resistance and freedom, as well as the challenges of creating, supporting and making space for Palestinian art and narratives in Palestine and abroad. The conversation will also touch on Berlin, where houaïda lives and where Ahmad lived before leaving the city for Marseille.
